Noah Vs. The Door Frame

Noah’s Stiches

Last Thursday I got a call from Amie at work:

Dave, come home now. Noah cut his head and I'm not sure if we'll need to bring him into the E.R.
I immediately left work and came home to a gash in our sad little man's head. I soon found out that he had tripped and fell head first into the door frame leading into the kitchen. Amie and my mom were both there to see it, and were able to give immediate care. They were able to stop the bleeding in 5-8 minutes, and I'm sure a squirming little boy in pain didn't help. When I got there the bleeding had stopped, and we talked about whether or not we should take him to the E.R. After Mrs. Taff took a trip over to console and advise us, we decided we had better take him in. We had heard about and hoped for a glue that doctors sometimes use instead of stitches, but they said that it wouldn't work well as he would have to sit still for a while as it dried. So our little guy had to sit through six stitches in his forehead. It was probably more traumatic to us than to him, as he was bouncing and bounding all over the place when we got home. Every now and then he looks at us very seriously, with a frown, pointing to his forehead saying, "ouch onma head. ouch."

Jack-o'-lanterns

Last night I took photos of our quickly degrading (rotting) pumpkins. I had to put a dozen candles in mine for it to show out the front at all (as you'll see in one of the photos.) Afterwards I was messing around with a flashlight and long exposure times. You'll see the message I created with the flashlight above, and you'll see more on the gallery page.

It was quite unfortunate that Amie's pumpkin, (which looked the best of the lot might I add) was rotten when we cut into it. We had all the best intention of carving it, but we didn't get to it before it turned into a puddle of pumpkin juice on the floor. :(

Our small group is having a non-Halloween dress up party this Friday, so stay tuned for photos from that event. I don't want to say what we are going as, because I want it to be a surprise to those who are going. We are teaming up with another couple, and going as a theme that involves 4 characters. I'll leave you to think about what that might be. ;)

Pleasant Surprise

So Amie called to tell me "something amazing happened:"

So guess what happened today? I was feeding Frencesca in the kitchen and I told Noah that he would have to play in his room until his sister was done eating. After she was done eating, it was really quiet and I decided to see what he had been getting into. When I peeked into his room, he was laying on his bed asleep! He put himself down for a nap! That is amazing!
So needless to say Amie is absolutely surprised and happy about this. I told her not to get used to it, and that he was an extremely tired little boy today. He didn't have a nap yesterday, got to bed a little late, didn't sleep well last night, and got up early. Needles to say he was quite the cranky boy when he woke up. Hopefully he will be well rested by tonight.

Noah's 2nd Birthday Party

Hey, it's been a while. I've had a ton of photos to sort through and I figured I would quickly get photos of Noah's party up before it was old history. We had such a good turn out, and Noah had a blast. He got a ton of cars and trucks and all the things that a little boy would love. The Robinson family stayed with us, and he was so excited to have a little boy his age around to play with. It will be great with Frencesca is a little bit older, and the two of them can enjoy playing and having fun. They enjoy each other now, but it's not quite the same.

Well, I have wedding photos, our NY trip photos, and a senior photography session to sort through next. Hopefully I will be able to post something really soon.

Sept 28 (Fri)We will be helping with wedding preparation then have the rehearsal and dinner all in Canandaigua.
Sept 29 (Sat)Wedding day! We'll be preparing for the wedding, and then going to the wedding and reception.

We will be staying at a cottage on Honeoye Lake and probably going to my old stomping grounds (Calvary Community Church) that Sunday. We're trying our best to prearrange our time with friends as much as we can before we get there, so if you could contact us with your schedule, that would be awesome!

News: Noah's Injury

This weekend we took part in the Turnberry garage sale at our friends house. They were selling cups of coffee, tea, and bottled water. On Saturday Noah happened to see a cup and decided to help himself, which to his horror was scolding hot coffee! He accidentally poured it down his chest and belly, and got burned pretty bad. We were able to cool the burn, and eventually get him to calm down. But there were blisters forming in places, and that made us and a few nurses that were there worried. We took him in to the ER and they looked at him. They prescribed him some stronger pain killers and a burn cream. They assured us that he would be okay, and that we did everything right. The doctor defined the burn as: superficial partial thickness.

On Monday Noah was looking great! You never would have guessed what had happened the day before seeing him running and jumping on things. We thought we would be up all night with him, but he slept pretty soundly throughout the night. You can keep his burns in your prayers though, as it still does cause him pain occasionally. You can also pray for us because his pain medication is making him super hyper active! He's just bouncing off the walls constantly!
